Description

The aims of this project are to: 
• replace and upgrade the existing play structures as pictured:
• meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 

Documents to be submitted
• Form of tender 
• Detailed quotation including 
o the total project cost of removal and disposal of existing equipment, 
o design (including illustration for assessment of play value), 
o installation, 
o resurfacing, 
o commissioning,
o independent post-installation safety inspection. 
• An explanation of how materials and processes of installation will be 
environmentally sustainable.
• An outline of expected timeline including a commitment to a completion date. 
• A summary of two similar projects that you have delivered successfully elsewhere with contact details for at least two referees.
• Details for any subcontractors to be employed on the contract. 
• Confirmation that insurance for Public Liability is in place for all contractors working on the Contract with a minimum sum insured of £5,000,000.
• Details of any warranties or guarantees provided.
• Confirmation of compliance with BS EN 1176.
• Copies of any test certificates that apply to the equipment.

P-0193 Playground Equipment and Multi Play Units (MPU)

Manchester City Council are currently improving fixed playgrounds within parks across the city. This project is split into the following lots: • Lot 1 Supply of Fixed Playground Equipment • Lot 2 Multi Play Units (MPU) Supply only All installed in accordance with manufacturer's instructions (see EN 1176-7:2008, Clause 6). Consideration of inclusive play installations and/or adaptations are paramount. Lot 1 Supply of Fixed Playground Equipment Supply only of a range of accessible and inclusive play equipment in accordance with EN 1176. Play equipment to be supplied according to EN 10219 technical delivery requirements, tolerances, dimensions and sectional properties of cold-formed welded steel structural. Swing frames - a range of swing units that incorporate steel top bar, anti-wrap hangers, integral side barriers. In Ground Accessible Carousels - with steel decking and large, sealed bearings, easy access for maintenance and carpet securing ring to ensure carpet does not catch or foul operation. Spring Rockers - with above ground accessible fixings Rotators - Hanging carousel and rotating poles to have large heavy duty sealed bearing. Lot 2 Multi Play Units (MPU) Supply only - must provide a wide range of high value multi-play provisions for a range of ages and abilities. Additional information: The Council is using the e-business portal known as the Chest. Applicants will need to register their details at the following link www.the-chest.org.uk. Lowndes Park Play Area, Chesham

Lowndes Park is Chesham's flagship park, it is situated on the main road through Chesham and includes various different elements including a fenced playpark. The playpark was installed in 2009 and is now old and tired. The current playpark includes elements for the younger age group and so for the time being will remain in situ. The new playground is to be built below the existing park The work will consist of: • Detailed designs for the playground, including drawings and specifications; • Obtaining all necessary permissions, licences and approvals to undertake the work; • Installing the new play equipment and surfacing; • Installing benches and bins; • Associated landscaping Design requirements Play equipment must include: • Multiple swings • Monkey bars and climbing balancing zones • Wow element with height like slide or tower • Equipment encouraging multi use and imagination rather than a single play offering, e.g. climber stack or web. • Hide-aways to encourage imaginative play • Accessible piece of equipment • Stone rubbings or other history/culture/investigation elements • Mounds with tunnels and natural play using the topography of the park Play equipment must: • Be reflective of a destination park with a sense of design and story, capturing local heritage and community. • Be predominantly timber and as natural in appearance as possible; • Be durable (including at least a 25 year warranty on steel and 15 year warranty on all timber and other materials) with parts easily maintained and replaced. Particular attention should be given to the structure and mechanism of any swings; • Be challenging for the target age range; • Be as accessible and inclusive as possible enabling children of all abilities to play alongside each other, incorporating sensory elements and considering recommendations of the Make Space for Girls campaign; • Give consideration to the Council's immediate neighbours to ensure that noise from users is not excessive; • Take into account trees and tree roots around the site, so as to not endanger the health of existing trees, as well as take into account the needs of any new tree planting; • Include somewhere to tie up dogs. • Maximise use of the site. Construction requirements • A site survey should be undertaken prior to work commencing to ensure the suitability of the ground and identify any services; • The current planting on the site, including trees, must not be disturbed by any work, without the prior permission of the Council; • A maximum equipment height of 4m must be observed. • All surplus materials must be removed from site; • Materials should be locally-sourced where practicable; • Exact details, materials, quantities and measurements will be agreed with the appointed contractor following production of detailed designs.
