Description
The National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN) intends to employ a Contractor to perform the remedial works on the historic vessel HMS Warrior which is currently used as a public museum. HMS Warrior was the largest and most powerful warship of its day and is now under the guardianship of the NMRN. The ship is docked at Portsmouth’s historic dockyard where the ship welcomes visitors all year round. The scope of work is focused on the areas of the ship in the most advanced stages of degradation and, therefore, present the most significant risk to the structural integrity of the vessel. The works are spread out over five years, starting with the areas of the most degradation, mainly the stern and the double bottom. The works are advertised at GBP-2m, please note the tender is packaged work dependent on approved funding by the NMRN. At present, the NMRN have approval for an initial GBP-300k of work for the first year.
