Description
Powys County Council’s (The Council) Highways, Grounds and Street Services (HGSS) are responsible for the management of grounds maintenance, grass cutting and additional associated activities on trunk roads, county and rural roads and within urban areas in the County of Powys. The Council currently maintains the following: -153 hectares of municipal grass areas across Powys which includes play areas, housing estates, libraries, etc., which are normally cut 10 times during the year; -19 cemeteries which are cut 14 times; -96 hectares of County Urban verges in towns and villages which are normally cut three times during the year; -4 hectares of shrub bed maintenance; -Over 4600 km’s of County Rural highway verges; -134 Roadside Verge Nature Reserves (RVNR’s); and The service is currently delivered through a mix of the internal service and external contractors and the service is usually delivered between April and October each year.
