Description

The primary objective of this research project is to provide a robust, defensible basis for applying DW within UK transport appraisal, which can be acceptable to both His Majesty's Treasury and stakeholders within DfT. This project will focus on developing the evidence base for applying DW in routine appraisal cases, where large scale spatial economic modelling is not feasible. Key issues to explore include identifying the ultimate beneficiaries of investments, exploring income segmentation in modelling, and understanding what impacts DW could have on the appraisal of a wide range of types of investment in DfT's portfolio.

The Provision of Parade Inspections

Blackpool Council’s (The Authority) Highways Department wish to appoint a Service Provider to: • undertake visual safety inspections of the Sea wall, Parade Area, beach access points, Cliff paths and all assets within the defined area. • identify, issue job tickets and then monitor completion of the work in accordance with the guidelines. • As required, provide detailed reports to Blackpool Council’s Engineer for Coastal Defence to defend against injury claims, which will most likely require appearing in court as an expert witness.
