Description

and infrastructure plans as part of Net Zero 2040, one of which is a tidal range power project, one of which is the Mersey Tidal Power Project (MTPP). As part of this project, prey availability for birds is identified as an area for investigation alongside on-going bird survey.

Prey availability surveys will build on the existing knowledge of intertidal invertebrate communities and potentially its relationship with seasonality and predation that is assumed to primarily be winter birds. Core samples are to be collected from mean low water (MLW) level at 28 stations, with 5 transects sampling at different tidal height, spread across the wider study area, from North Wirral to the Alt Estuary, with a focus on the Mersey Estuary.
