Description

Notes
-----

The successful bidder will be given more information about the network post award, for security reasons only basic information is provided below.

Wigston - Existing equipment.
-----------------------------
The Core switch currently is an Extreme Networks Black Diamond 8100 with 12x10gbps XFP ports. This connects to 5 stacks of Extreme Summit switches which will be replaced at a later stage, 30 switches in all (1440 ports). Wigston connects back to Hinckley for internet and system access.

Hinckley - Existing equipment.
------------------------------
The Core switch currently is a Cisco Catalyst 4510R+E with Sup7A line cards. This switch uplinks to a mixture of POE and non POE 2960 series Catalyst switches 23 units in total. The Hinckley core switch is technically the hub of the network with our Firewall being located at this site and 1gbps intersite links from all other campuses ingress here for internet access.

Connectivity from core switch to edge switch is provided by means of x2 1gbps LACP RJ45 connections, therefore the Hinckley campus will initially require more copper connectivity until such time as the edge equipment is replaced with 10gbps uplink capable equipment.

Due to time constraints and other projects we do not require quotes for the edge equipment described above. This initial engagement is to replace two campuses core switch equipment only.

Objectives.
-----------

To have a fully supported core switch from the manufacturer where firmwares are updated frequently to mitigate security risks and foster a stronger more secure network.

To provide easier management functionality using cloud technologies

To harmonise, in the longer term all networking vendor equipment to one brand and model set to provide more agile solutions to networking changes throughout the equipment lifecycle.

Features required.
------------------
The switches must have following minimum feature set: VLAN support, Layer3 Routing, ACLs, 802.1x, LLDP, QoS, Port Mirroring, Traffic Monitoring, Configuration Templates, Dual PSUs, Modular Field Replaceable Fans, stacking by means of dedicated stacking cables - Please provide DATASHEET detailing all feature sets for the equipment to be supplied.

Warranty period for cloud switches must be 10 years minimum and cover cloud access and equipment for the same duration. - M-Th 1000-1630

Provision of LAN and Wireless Networks

South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Council (the councils) are replacing the active network components of their offices and buildings, including all switching, wireless access points and security devices. The councils wish to move to a single cloud-managed platform for all sites and devices enabling management through a single dashboard. The solution should include installation and configuration of the devices to enable the councils' network to support the migration to a Zero-Trust-Network (ZTN) using SD-WAN. All sites support hybrid working with staff being able to work at home and within the office over a corporate LAN. The councils' technology strategy is a cloud-first approach, and all main applications are either delivered software-as-a-service (SaaS), are planned to move to SaaS or be hosted in Azure. Productivity applications are provided via Microsoft 365. The councils have no main datacentre or physical centralised server-room. Each site will be connected to the internet via direct connection and will require network protection. OUTLINE REQUIREMENTS Solution must be managed through a single cloud enabled platform and provide single dashboard for unified management for switching, wireless and security appliances. Modern deployment through zero-touch provisioning. Network and wireless should support latest technology version and allow for future growth. Network switches must: • support stacking where more than one switch is being deployed in a comms rack. • Provide PoE to support wireless access points and QoS to assist with voice and video network traffic. • Switch ports to support multi-gigabit for wireless access points. • Switches to support VLAN for network segregation. Wireless access points must: • be minimum Wifi-6E (802.11ax) • support multi-gigabit ports. • Be powered via PoE wherever possible. Security Appliances must: • support SD-wan and ZTN technologies. • provide local DHCP, NAT, QoS and VLAN management services. • support site to site VPN into MS Azure for each site. Suppliers must provide a detailed price breakdown for: a. Hardware for each site b. 5 year enterprise licence and support c. Installation and configuration for each site d. Ongoing annual support for the duration of 5 year enterprise licence period
