Description

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGCSU), on behalf of NHS England (referred to as the Commissioner), is inviting suitably qualified and
experienced providers to respond to this invitation to tender for the provision of a Paediatric Contact High Consequence Infectious Disease Centre. The key objective of the Procurement is to commission a contract for paediatric high consequence disease centre located in the
South of England. There is already a contracted provider for the service in the North of England.
The commissioners have procured a second centre to treat patients, 16yrs and under with contact high consequence infectious diseases alongside the established one in the North (located in Newcastle). The procurement is to improve the geographical access to the service and increase the national resilience by having two units that can admit and treat patients with viral haemorrhagic fevers. These infections are of particular public health importance because they can spread within a hospital setting, are difficult to recognise and detect rapidly, and have a high case-fatality rate. Most of these diseases are imported into the UK.
The duration of this contract will be for a period of 8 years with the Commissioner having the option to extend the Contract for up to a further year.
