Description
The aim of the community infection prevention and control service is to: • Prevent infections through provision of comprehensive high-quality evidence-based infection prevention and control, advice and support in the community. • Promotion, review and audit of infection, prevention and control standards within health, social care relevant community settings. • Protect the health of the population by supporting Knowsley Council and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to respond to outbreaks, incidents and single cases (with risk of significant impact) of communicable disease in the local population as directed. • Work to reduce and sustain reductions in healthcare-associated infections. In particular, the service will support commissioners to achieve a reduction in the rate of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and Gram-Negative Blood Stream Infections (GNBSIs), in line with national objectives.
