Description

The Residences Strategic Major Programme of work has identified the need for up to 9,000
beds to meet our current size and shape ambitions by 2031/32 and is actively exploring all options to increase bed numbers as quickly as possible during that period.
We are taking a blended approach to delivering these beds whereby a proportion of the development is delivered on UoS sites. We have identified that circa. 2400 beds could be delivered on the UoS estate but are not in a position to undertake direct development of most of these beds.
We are looking to agree a partnership with a developer / investor / operator who we would transfer stock to that they would operate whilst building new stock on areas of UoS sites that we have identified. It is anticipated that a stock transfer of around 2,300 beds and development of around 2,500 beds are in scope. The partner would be responsible for planning & development. Risk and reward is shared by the partnership.

This procurement seeks to secure legal advisory services to advise the University from the strategic phase of setting out the proposal structure and throughout the procurement of the partner.
