Description

Smoking is the leading cause of preventable ill health and death in England, and a significant contributor to inequalities in life expectancy.
The national tobacco control plan for England 'Towards a smoke-free generation' has clearly set out the Government's ambition for England to be 'smokefree' by 2030 (smoking prevalence <5%). This year Wokingham achieved the 'smokefree' target, with 4.6% of the population currently being a smoker. Whilst the proportion of people smoking in Wokingham is decreasing, it is still estimated that there are over 6000 smokers in the borough.
