Description
The advocacy services will be provided to eligible individuals of all ages ordinarily resident in the local authority of Hampshire County Council (HCC) and/or covered by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board (HIOW ICB) and/or Frimley Integrated Care Board (ICB). Advocacy services support someone or act on behalf of an individual to represent their views, interests and wishes within formal processes, assessments, hearings and interactions with other groups and organisations on a range of subjects that affect them and their lives. An advocate should be independent from the involved parties and act with impartiality, facilitating self-advocation, as much as possible, for the person concerned. The purpose of an advocate is to assist an individual to represent their views, ask questions, explain the options available without offering advice or an opinion and to assist the person to maintain their wellbeing, supporting them to have breaks or time to process information as required. An advocate should always assist without offering solutions or a bias and they should always help without judgement.
