1.1 The Livestock Production Sciences (LPS) Branch at Hillsborough of the Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) requires competitive tenders for the purchase of a Crude Protein analyser using the Kjeldahl technique. The AFBI Hillsborough Analytical Services laboratory is required to analyse forage, animal feedstuffs and products in accordance with both European and Northern Ireland legislation. The laboratory provides a service for the analysis and assessment of animal diets associated with Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), AFBI and privately funded research projects. This is in accordance with AFBI’s aims of promoting the precision management of feed for the Agri-Food industry. AFBI requires the supply, delivery, and commissioning of the equipment. Warranty, servicing and reactive repair details are necessary requirements. On-site training in the operation of the supplied system is also required. Please refer to the specification for further details of the requirements for the supply of the protein analyser.

The University proposes to enter into a Contract for 39 months - this will be the maximum contract period with the successful tenderer. This will comprise of an initial contract period of 39 months for the provision of the equipment including a 12 month warranty and 36 month support and maintenance to run concurrently subject to satisfactory performance and at the discretion of the University. Biological Sciences have a requirement for a cell sorter, an instrument with the capability to separate and sort a mixed population of biological cells into different fractions for analysis or ongoing growth in separate cultures. Once sorted, cells must be kept sterile and uncontaminated, the cell sorter will have the capability of sorting populations into a multi-well plate format inside an integral biological safety cabinet. This requirement includes training for University staff and ongoing technical and experimental support.

This Notice relates to an open tender above the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) threshold for goods related to research and development equipment required by the Electronic and Electrical Engineering (EEE) department at the University of Strathclyde (Contracting Authority).
