Description

The Saltash Town Team is seeking the services of qualified and experienced landscape design/public realm consultancy to determine the optimal location(s) and feasibility of developing a green multi-use community space in the retail heart of the town centre.

Tenders are sought from companies with expertise and an excellent track record in designing public realm schemes in other towns, undertaking meaningful community consultation processes, providing creative and innovative solutions with clear costs and project timetables and where the final scheme has led to positive environmental, social and economic impacts.

It is expected that the consultants will carry out an assessment of possible sites, interrogate data on a range of factors including location, size, land ownership, accessibility, viability and synergy with the town's retail centre taking the project to RIBA stage 2 with conceptual designs and a feasibility study being the outcome to this project. Community consultation is an imperative part of the work.

This work will be overseen by the Saltash Town Team who provide the coordination of development activity within Saltash with the remit of helping to improve the economic, social and environmental revitalisation of the town - making Saltash a better place to live, work, visit and enjoy.

The accountable body for the project will be Saltash Town Council who are active members of the Town Team through Councillor and officer representation. A sub-group will steer this project led by the Chairman.

The commissioning of this work presents an exciting and high-profile opportunity for the appointed company to be involved in a game changing project in Saltash which is not only bespoke to the needs of the town's community, providing a much needed amenity but also builds on the town's profile as the gateway to Cornwall. It is also intended that the project echoes the rich heritage of Saltash.

This work has been funded through a successful Vitality Funding award from Cornwall Council's Town Centre Revitalisation Fund enabling Saltash to advance this project with the aim of improving the economic, social and environmental revitalisation of the town.

Interested applicants need to download the full 'Invitation to Tender' document and associated appendices including the quotation form which will be required when making a tender submission. Submissions are required by hard copy and email as per the submission details outlined in the 'Invitation to Tender' document.

In-Orbit Manufacturing (IOM) is one subset of the wider In-Orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) market. Investing in ISAM allows the UK to exploit early investments to become leaders in the market. The UK has developed the essential building blocks for ISAM, but we need to act now to secure our competitive advantage. In-Orbit Manufacturing (IOM) represents a transformative opportunity to produce materials and products in space that offer superior quality and performance compared to those manufactured on Earth. By overcoming terrestrial limitations, IOM can unlock new markets and drive innovation across multiple sectors. This procurement is structured into two Lots to address distinct terrestrial applications: • Lot 1: In-Orbit Manufacturing for terrestrial healthcare or medical applications • Lot 2: In-Orbit Manufacturing for other terrestrial applications Applicants may apply to only one Lot and submit a single application. Each Lot will fund a feasibility study (Phase 0/A) to assess the technical and commercial viability of delivering an In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) mission in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), in accordance with UKSA's mission requirements (see Annex F). The competition aims to: • Demonstrate the technical feasibility of in-orbit manufacturing processes in LEO for the selected application area • Mature key payload and manufacturing technologies relevant to the chosen Lot • Evaluate suitable mission architectures and operational concepts for demonstration • Identify and assess risks, constraints, and enabling technologies • Develop a credible route to market, including engagement with end users and stakeholders Projects must address the high-risk, high-cost environment of in-orbit technology testing and provide evidence of engagement with end users to demonstrate commercial potential. Proposals should detail intended customer groups, integrators, and suppliers, and present a comprehensive management approach, including Work Package Descriptions (WPDs) and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for both Phase 0 and Phase A. Applications must demonstrate compatibility against the mission requirements (Annex F) and ability to deliver the tasks set out below (Section 5). You should elaborate and critique these tasks, identifying any additional suitable activities (with justification). This competition aims to fund two studies. This notice relates to the intended procurement for a contract which is an exempted contract under s 3(6) and Schedule 2, Part 2 (Subject-matter exempted contracts), paragraph 22 (Research and Development Services) of the Procurement Act 2023 (the 'Act'). Exempted contracts are not a public contract as defined in s3 of the Act and therefore are not required to be procured in accordance with the provisions of the Act that relate to a covered procurement.

Development of vertically straight fusion blanket segment demonstrator including technology development identification

As part of the on-going STEP programme, continued development, learning and understanding of materials and systems is required. As such, the materials team have set out this requirement to better understand the proposed plan for the breeder blankets within the tokomak. This proof of concept, physical scaled demonstrator and broader technology understanding will benefit the programme and allow for further progress to be made. The scaled physical demonstrator that this project will deliver is to demonstrate the manufacturability of ferritic-martensitic steels in the form required to suit the Breeder Blanket design proposed herein. The demonstration will prove the engineering processes and techniques necessary for the scaled demonstrator and will identify feasibility of increased scale-up for manufacture of the large-scale fabrication of breeder blanket segments using Grade 91 steel.
