Description

This is an update to the existing DPS previously published on Delta under the below links.
      Due to a change in software this has now moved to this platform.
      
      The works covered by this contract include small and medium scale coastal defence works and may include repair or replacement of sections of coastal defences of varying types, handrail and fencing repairs and maintenance as well as other minor civil engineering and general building works. The scope of works is further expanded to include cliff top areas to include footpaths and fencing as well as minor repairs to cliff and promenade areas.

Beach Management Framework

The Environment Agency requires a Framework to deliver its routine and ad-hoc beach maintenance works across all coastal frontages in England that it is responsible for. This maintenance typically consists of moving/transporting large volumes of shingle from areas of accretion to areas of erosion and evenly re-distributing shingle along the sea to restore/maintain the required standard of protection. There is a requirement to import marine dredged or land-based shingle onto coastal frontages to replenish lost material and to conduct maintenance/repairs to coastal defences and structures. There is a requirement to import and place rock on coastal frontages, as well as to provide coastal incident response, recovery and readiness support in the event of extreme weather events. This maintenance is essential to minimise the risk of coastal flooding to residential properties and commercial businesses. Market Engagement was undertaken using PIN notices via the PCR 15 regulations in May and December 2024. The Framework will operate as a single National Lot with a maximum of two Delivery Partners being appointed onto the Framework. The Framework duration will be a six-year (72 month) initial period with a 2-year (24 month) extension option (total eight years). The total estimated value of the Framework will be between £469,000,000 to £1,227,166,000 (exclusive of VAT). Contract for the Mumbles Additional Railings

The project comprises of the removal of the existing damaged and rusted railings, with new ‘marina’ style stainless steel railings. The addition of a gate at each of the stairs to allow access when required. The new railings are to be brought forward 300mm from the edge of the wall to both increase the width of the promenade and to increase safety. Two bins and two life rings to be brought forward to the new railing location and match with existing in area. Location:- Between Knab Rock, Mumbles Road, Mumbles, Swansea SA3 4EN and Verdi’s café, Knab Rock, Mumbles Road, Mumbles, Swansea SA3 4EE.
