Description

UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS), on behalf of the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Medical Research Council (MRC) wishes to establish a Contract for the provision of Legal Services for seven (7) years.
UK SBS is managing this procurement process in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 (as may be amended from time to time) (the “Regulations”).

2025 Standard Crime Contract Stage 3

The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) is inviting Applicants to submit a Tender for a 2025 Standard Crime Contract (“Crime Contract”) to deliver publicly funded criminal legal aid services from 1 October 2025. Applicants wishing to deliver criminal legal aid services under a Crime Contract must submit a response to the SQ for 2025 Standard Crime Contracts - Stage 3 and the 2025 Standard Crime Contract ITT - Stage 3. This application period opens on 01May 2025. The LAA intends that the application period will remain open until on, or around, 30 September 2034, subject to the right of early termination. It is the Applicant’s sole responsibility to ensure that it submits a Complete Tender before the Tender Deadline. Before submitting your Complete Tender, please carefully read the Application Guide (AG) for the Crime Contract procurement process. The AG gives information about the procurement process, including how to complete a Tender and when you can expect to receive a decision. If Applicants are rejected from the procurement process, they will generally be able to submit a new Tender at any point whilst the Application Period remains open. It is the Applicant’s sole responsibility to ensure its Tender has been correctly completed to fully and properly represents its tender for the 2025 Crime Contract.

Interim Orders Tribunal and Interim Measures Tribunal (Advocacy Services)

Section 41A of the Medical Act 1983 (as amended) provides the power for an Interim Order Tribunal (IOT) of the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) to impose an interim order of suspension or conditions on a doctor’s registration where such an order is necessary for the protection of members of the public or is otherwise in the public interest, or is in the interests of the practitioner. Similarly, Article 11 of the Anaesthesia Associates and Physician Associates Order 2024 provides the power for an Interim Measures Tribunal (IMT) of the MPTS to impose an interim order of suspension or conditions on an anaesthesia associate’s or physician associate’s registration where such an order is necessary for the protection of members of the public or is otherwise in the public interest, or is in the interests of the associate. Under both an IOT and IMT an interim order/measure, for an initial period of up to 18 months, may be imposed. At the end of the initial period, the interim order/measure may be extended by the High Court, on application by the GMC. Any extension is for a maximum of 12 months, although there is no limit on the number of extensions that may be sought. The legislation requires that once an interim order/measure has been imposed, it is reviewed at regular intervals (normally every 6 months), both before and after any extension authorised by the High Court.

The Scottish Government is seeking a supplier to provide a demand led service for both Advocacy Support and Legal Advice service to children, aged 12-15. The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004 (2004 Act) provides the legal framework for the provision of additional support for learning. The Education (Scotland) Act 2016 (2016 Act) amends the 2004 Act to provide that children (aged between 12-15 with capacity) can access certain rights conferred on them by the 2004 Act.
