Description

Derbyshire Dales District Council (the Council) covers an area of approximately 1328km square. The District is primarily a rural area with the five small towns of Matlock, Ashbourne, Wirksworth, Bakewell and Darley Dale and over a 100 villages. It is essential that the Council maintains safe driving conditions for residents and visitors to the area. Residents, businesses and visitors experience of the Derbyshire Dales should be positive and the area should be recognised as a great place to work, live, visit and shop, and also for the Council to maintain the high quality of the environment, road safety and public confidence throughout the District. As some areas in the District are specific wildflower habitats, it is important to the Council that these are managed in accordance with the specific habitat requirements. It is therefore important that a programme is in place to ensure the correct maintenance of the highway verges. This tender has therefore been produced to enable the Council to appoint an experienced and competent contractor (s) to undertake highway verge flail mowing and is being let as two lots; Lot 1 North and Lot 2 South.
