T2575 PEACEPLUS Arts through the Genres

This project contributes to the implementation of the Thriving and Peaceful Communities theme under the Belfast PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan. To create at least five pieces of original cross community, bottom up and professional artist facilitated pieces of work, through four collaborative projects across the city, each on a North, South, East and West basis. Each project will comprise two cross community pairings linking two similar arts genres. It will include capacity building, arts facilitation and skills development for the future. The fifth project will involve the capturing the live story line to produce a short documentary at the close of the 4 projects. Overall, the projects will showcase the diversity of cultures and heritage across the City, will explore different narratives expressed through different art forms/ genres. Participants = 480 (+16 for project 5) The project forms part of the Belfast PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan, which is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)

King George’s Hall has successfully presented a professional Christmas pantomime for generations and has a well-established reputation for delivering a high quality, modern production with a plethora of current pop songs, exceptional choreography and spectacular costumes. Blackburn with Darwen has low levels of engagement in the arts, a high proportion of the population is under 19 years of age. King George’s Hall envisages the pantomime is a gateway to theatre for many disadvantaged young people within the borough.
