GB-London: 002266 RFI - Cold Storage For The Master Negative Collection

Many of the British Library's early microfilms - some of which are now unique items in themselves - are on acetate film and will not survive in perpetuity without further intervention. The best way to prolong their life - and the life of many film-based materials is to store them in a cooler climate than is necessary for many non-film-based materials. Currently the British Library store these items in an external cold storage facility. The purpose of this RFI is to ascertain if other similar facilities are available in the United Kingdom.
