4585/AMRC/CK/25 Gas Decarbonisation Equipment & Carbon Removal Services R2

4585/AMRC/CK/25 Gas Decarbonisation Equipment The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for a Gas Decarbonisation Equipment on behalf of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, Castings Group at Catcliffe, South Yorkshire. Scope of Requirement AMRC Castings has many gas fuelled processes which we are looking to decarbonise, in particular a 656kW kiln used for firing the ceramic shells used for investment casting. The thermodynamic requirements of the process and on-site electrical grid constraints mean that electrification is not a viable option, and as such, we are interested in ways of decarbonising the natural gas supply to the kiln. We are aware that fuel switching to low carbon hydrogen is technically possible, but currently low carbon hydrogen is significantly more expensive than natural gas which would result in uneconomically high operational costs. We are interested in installing a natural gas decarbonisation system to supply our investment mould flash fire kiln, but we need the solution to be comparable economically to natural gas. Tender Process and Documentation: This procurement is an open procedure conducted in accordance with the Procurement Act 2023. The ITT can be downloaded by registering and expressing your interest on the University`s e-tendering system https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield If you have any questions or comments in relation to this tender they must be submitted via the In-tend System, this can be accessed at https://in-tendhost.co.uk/Sheffield Completed tenders must be returned through the same e-tendering system. Closing date for receipt of tenders: November 4, 2025 at 12 noon (UK time).
