Description

The University requires to procure and install a state-of-the-art internally heated pressure vessel (IHPV) for synthesising and testing geological materials under crustal pressures and magmatic temperatures. The IHPV will complement other experimental equipment in Manchester and provide a nationally unique capability for the wider NERC community. The IHPV should be fully operational by 3rd March 2024.

Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. Diamond allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour of the world around us at the atomic and molecular level. The scope of the contract is to manufacture a number of Pre-series and Production crotch Absorber assembies which will be required for the assembly of the Diamond-II Storage Ring, this will require several development activities, such as design, trials, manufacture, welding, inspection, testing and delivery to Diamond Light Source. Installation at DLS is not included.
