Description

TfGM is looking to establish a contract to ascertain current asset condition information & outline design (Phase 1).
The current traction return system in the City Centre is already a floating system following the opening of 2nd City Crossing (2CC) in 2017. When the negative return system is floating, protective measures must be in place to protect persons against the risk of electric shock from dangerous voltages (touch or accessible voltages) between the rails and metallic objects or earth within the Overhead Contact Line Zone (OCLZ). At present there are a number of assets (exact extents unknown) which are located within the OCLZ within 1CC that were not electrically bonded when the system was “floated” in 2017. All existing 1CC line-side assets, that fall within the OCLZ, must be assessed against relevant standards and the Metrolink Infrastructure Technical Specification System Earthing Policy to ensure compliance and any identified non-compliances rectified on site.

TfGM’s intention is to award works in a phased manner, at this stage only Phase 1 is being tendered. Further information can be found within the Works Information included with the Tender documentation pack.
